LA Ash markets coke and coal combustion products throughout the Southeastern U.S. The offices in Lake Charles, LA and Jacksonville, FL sell petcoke combustion products from NISCO's Lake Charles power plant and JEA's Northside power plant. Regardless of the fuel source, petcoke or coal, the three sources of LA Ash's materials are circulating fluidized bed steam generators.

OPF70 and OPF90 are unmodified circulating fluidized bed (CFB) combustion residue consisting primarily of calcium oxide (CaO) and calcium sulfate (CaSO4). The CFB combustion process mixes ground limestone (or lime) with finely pulverized petcoke (or high sulfur content coal) in the steam generator's combustion chamber. The calcium in the limestone combines with the sulfur oxides released from the petcoke or coal, reducing the concentration of sulfur dioxide released into the atmosphere.
